A Child's Garden accepts Infants (age 3 months by August of the school year) through Pre-K.
Schedules: The following schedules are available for all age groups. Five days (M-F), three days (MWF), or two days (T/Th), 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, or full days (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).
Early Care (7:30am-9:00am) Children may arrive as early as 7:45 for our early care group, which is a combined age setting offering self-selection options and a story time.
After Care (3:30 - 5:30) Children from extended day classes may stay until 5:30. Indoor and outdoor self-selection activities are offered. The school provides an afternoon snack prior to 3:30 for those scheduled for after care. Age groups are typically cared for separately.
Children who arrive prior to 8:55 a.m. and/or are picked up after 3:10 p.m. will be noted in early care or after care and families will be charged accordingly.
Interim care is offered on an as needed basis for most of the weeks that ACG is otherwise closed at an additional cost. Ordinarily interim care is not provided for individual closure days, such as Staff Development Days as part of our ongoing staff training. We do take additional days for family teacher conferences, which are held during the regular calendar year.
Reservations Drop-in reservations may be made 2 business days in advance by filling out a reservation form. Forms are located by the Family Involvement Bulletin Board and turned into the office. Any change in an extended care reservation must be made in the office. Families will be charged for care if changes are not made 1 business day prior to the reservation date. Children picked up after the regular class dismissal time must have extended care reservations to avoid late charges, and more importantly, confusion about why the child has not been picked up. If your child does not stay regularly, it is important to notify the teacher in order to facilitate the transition for the child. If extended care is a regular need, we recommend that families inquire about a full day schedule. Schedule changes can be requested in the office for children who are utilizing before and after care reservations regularly.
All children enrolled for extended day schedules (after 1:00) are provided a cot for rest time. Each family is asked to supply a blanket if desired for the cot, which should be laundered weekly or when soiled. Nap supplies for each child are stored separately, and cots are placed at least three feet apart when in use.Interim care is available on an as needed basis when the school is closed for holidays more than one day at a time.
ACG offers a summer session in June and July, approximately seven weeks in duration. The specific schedule and information, including fees are available in early spring. The summer session is organized only for children who are enrolled during the school year at ACG. ACG’s regular teachers form the core for the staffing, and the program is consistent with the goals and curriculum as stated in this handbook. Registration is held in March. Enrollment is limited and therefore, not guaranteed. Tuition cannot be pro-rated if a child does not participate for the entire session. A child’s place will only be secured for summer with payment by May 20 in full.
